The focus is on self-assessment in terms of educational and career opportunities and reasonable possibilities in the world of work. Includes assessment for personal/career interests, values, needs, attitudes, skills, and exploration of occupational information to establish career and educational goals. The above will be met through the following: reflective journaling, research paper, exploration project, and presentation (see handbook for details). Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Exhibit appropriate work ethics and behaviors in school, community, and/or workplace. 2. Apply decision making and problem solving techniques in school, community, and/or workplace. 3. Demonstrate effective and appropriate communication skills to give and receive information in school, community, and/or workplace. 4. Demonstrate effective teamwork in school, community, and/or workplace. 5. Demonstrate academic, technical, and organizational knowledge and skills required for successful employment. 6. Demonstrate career development skills in planning for post-high school experiences. Assignments will NOT be given a grade if they are late or incomplete. If the student is absent, it is he/she’s responsibility to talk with the instructor about missed work.
