The FS vote reaffirmed the depth requirement in Science and as well as the H&SS depth requirement. The vote will be ratified by the FS at their next meeting. After some discussion, the FSCC decided that some statement should be forwarded to the FS so it becomes part of the record during the ratification process. The following motion was approved unanimously. We request that the Faculty Senate not ratify the vote on the depth core requirement because 1) the way it was formulated did not follow established procedures for initiating any major curricula change (for example, the ballot item was not presented to the Student Senate nor was it presented at the general Faculty Senate meeting when the slate was presented 2) It was treated as 1 separate issue (depth requirement in H&SS and depth requirement in science) instead of two issues 3) Established an unfortunate precedent by ignoring the unanimous recommendation from the Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee The motion was approved unanimously. M. Goldenberg expressed concern that the depth requirement issues were not presented to the Student Senate. He’d like to bring them forward to the Student Senate for discussion. 5) Core Outcomes Discussion continued- L.
