ACES 2016 Augmentative Communication and Empowerment Supports Participant Tuition A. Professional Services $1500.00 1-3 planning visits, 10 days of on-site instruction, training, and materials, up to 1-year follow-up technical assistance for participant and tutor. On-site training includes: 20+ hours of structured Communication instruction (including augmentative and alternative communication [AAC] therapy provided under direction of PA licensed and ASHA certified speech-language pathologists) Specific goals for individual participants’ needs/objectives Appropriate goals may include: communicating for work / community, social interactions, presentations / public speaking, telephone use 9-12 hours of instruction in Computer Access / Use (provided under direction of RESNA certified Assistive Technology Professional) Topics may include: Microsoft Office Applications for home / work / community Microsoft Word (resume building, resource lists) Powerpoint Excel Internet Use E-mail (etiquette, listservs) Social Networking and communication (Chat, Facebook, LinkedIn, Skype) 9-12 hours of Empowerment instruction Topics may include: Americans with Disabilities Act Managing Personal Assistant Services Personal Safety Community Services Skill Building (volunteer, job shadowing, vocational or education classes) Employment (applying for jobs, accommodations, improving work skills) Parent / tutor information and support sessions B. Room and board (for 1 participant and 1 accompanying person) $1300.00 12 nights in a dormitory (Temple Towers) at Temple University Main Campus Check-in: July 18, 2016 Check-out: July 29, 2016 Two meals a day plus lunch stipend On-site overnight ACES Resident Advisor Total cost (for 1 participant and 1 accompanying person) $2800.00 This total does not include: Travel to and from ACES Cost (wages) of your Personal Assistant or Tutor Optional leisure activities selected by participant during evenings or weekends **Tuition may be adjusted for changes in curriculum, # of participants, # of meals, or other conditions.* ACES staff are available to assist you in procuring the funding you will need to attend ACES and/or for an appropriate speech generating device.
