• Focus on connections that support SEMP/MAP/Strategic Plan
• Update each other on initiatives
• Discuss, clarify, assess ideas/issues brought to the council by
members
• Members become developers of deep relationships with
faculty and staff
• Members never speak ill of a council member or throw
someone under the bus
• Members keep the confidential, confidential
• Members bring campus issues (real or imagined) to the
Council
On decisions/recommendations
• Attempt to reach consensus on
decisions/recommendations
• Realize that not all
decisions/recommendations can be
consensual
• Realize that the provost is accountable for
every decision/recommendation coming
from the Council
