Curriculum Proposal: MBA 15-16 #16 proposal: a.
Dr. Son will remove reference to seniors taking graduate level courses from the proposal as this
portion goes against current policy. He will revise and send out proposal ASAP. b.
The committee will review the revised proposal and if there are issues, to please notify Rick Koch
ASAP; a meeting has been tentatively scheduled for next week (Nov. 13)…if no issues, this meeting will
be cancelled and the proposal will be reviewed Nov. 20, 2015 (regular meeting).
Questions: What is the MnSCU policy concerning using graduate level credits toward undergrad degree; what would be the credit total requirement for each? Is it 120 for undergrad? 30+ credits for graduate
degree? Rick will contact Melanie at SCSU.
A separate policy change request will be forthcoming from the Business Adm. Dept. concerning graduate level credits counting toward an undergraduate degree (elective area) and the MBA. Rick will contact
Melanie at SCSU to see what their policy is on this issue.
It is the consensus of the BSUFA graduate studies committee that 5000 level courses do NOT need the
3/4000 level courses based on interpretation of the current catalog. Further examination will ensue.
2015-16 Catalog:
5000 Level Courses Graduate courses offered at the 5000 level are double numbered with courses at the
3000 or 4000 level. However, all such courses require prior approval through the curriculum process.
Courses at the 5000 level concurrently offered with undergraduate courses include additional graduate-level assignments, typically in the form of an advanced paper or project, reading assignments, examinations, and conferences. A differentiated grading system is also required for graduate students in double-numbered courses.
