Motion carried. II. Announcements/FYI 1. Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools 68th Annual Meeting scheduled for April 10-12, 2013 in Minneapolis. http://www.uwlax.edu/conted/mags/index.htm III. Business 1. Biology curriculum proposal (BIOL 12-13 #5). (Wendy Larson emailed this to us on M 12/10) Mark moved (Michael M. 2nd) to accept proposal. Note the following comments: mostly undergraduate changes…there were some syllabi where pre-reqs on form do not match with the syllabus…ie. Wild Life Mgmt Techniques one syllabus has no pre-reqs listed, but they are listed on the form; Biology 4360/5360 on the form, however, an experimental # is on syllabus attendance grade…thought we could not grade on attendance but only on participation. Student handbook states that as long as it’s in the syllabus, faculty may use attendance as part of the grade. It was suggested that active participation be used rather than attendance for grading. Pre-Professional students are those going into pre-med….this statement is confusing…needs clarification prior to submitting as approved. Consistency, not quality of proposal. Richard will talk to the author concerning revisions. Changes will be made and sent on to Wendy for review by the BSU Curriculum Committee. Motion carried. 2. Selection of new committee chair for Spring 2013. Rick will be on sabbatical. Mark C. moved (Michael M. 2nd) to nominate Virgil Bakken as the Chair for spring term in Rick Koch’s absence. Motion carried. Virgil will send a Doodle to find a time that works for all. 3. Electronic copies of master’s degree papers Joan talked about ImageNow and how research papers/theses/projects may be scanned in the student record system and linked directly to the student. Good for HLC access to papers, etc. All agreed this is a good idea. 4. Revised MBA proposal from BUAD…tabled till spring semester. 5. Graduate Faculty Orientation tabled till spring semester. Meeting adjourned at 1:55 p.m. Next meeting to be determined (spring semester) Joan Miller, Reporting Secretary
