Student Leadership Programme [Q & A] Q1. I read that there are 3 levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Each level will depend on the number of activities we have participated in. Can I say that this is ‘an own time own target’ thing where we can see when we have the time to attend this event and then clock the hours? There will not be a deadline eg:to clock X number of hours by end of Year 1? A1. You may say that the activities and workshop is planned according to your timetable and ability to commit. However, do take note that the there is an expiry date for the activities hours. Your hours expire in 2 years’ time. So do take note especially if you are in your first year and maybe if you have activities mostly attended in your first year. The activities hours will hence expire in your third year. So there is no deadline for the number of workshop and activities except the expiry date that you to be mindful of. Q2. What are the obligations? Can I just sign up for the programme and what if I happen to not participate in any of the activities or workshop? Any penalties imposed? A2. You may sign up without attending any activity or workshop but by signing up, it means you are interested to obtain the certificate so you should work towards that by attending the activities and workshops even though there will not be a penalty for not attending any. Q3.Or can I just attend the workshops and choose not to help out at the activities? Will I get kicked out of the Programme or something if I do not have any progress? A3. In order for you to qualify for the certificate [Basic,Intermediate,Advanced level], you are required to achieve a minimum number of activities hours and workshops to attend. We do not encourage students to only attend the workshop as mentioned in above A2 as we encourage students to work towards the attainment of the certificate. Q4. I cannot login at the "Sign Up" page using my NUSNET ID. A4. Please send an email to comqww@nus.edu.sg with your matric number. Q5. I'm interested in the leadership program but I don't think I will have time to go for the activities in this coming semester. It is possible for me to register for the program and join activities in semester 2? Also, is there a selection process for this program? A5. Yes, you may sign up for the leadership program and attend the activities based on your ability to commit. There is no selection for the program. All students are welcome to sign up. Q6. May I ask, if we have completed the activities in the previous years, are we able to include those for the certification? A6. You are only allowed to backdate activities from Jan 2012 onwards. Q7. Can I convert my Intermediate activity hours to Basic or Advanced activity hours to Intermediate? A7. Yes, you may convert the higher level activity hours to lower level. However, please note this is irreversible and is a one-time off conversion. Please send in your request to Ms Quek Woon Woon comqww@nus.edu.sg. Q8. Can I count those activities that I earned remuneration to be counted for the hours worked for the programme? A8. No, if you had earned remuneration, you are not allowed to double-count the hours towards the Student Leadership Programme. So, you had to decide whether you want to count the hours towards the programme or to earn the remuneration for the activity that allows you to earn remuneration. Q9. How do I know what workshops are available to sign up? A9. Do look out the email announcement for workshops registration from Undegraduate Office. Q10. How do I know I am confirmed for the workshop after I register interest? A10. An email notification to confirm you for the workshop will be sent to your NUS email account 1 week before the start of the workshop if you are being selected. Q11. Is there a penalty for not turning up for workshop I signed up? A11. Yes, you will be removed from the programme and you will not be able to register any activity or workshop till you provide a reinstatement fee of $100. Q12.
