ROTARY DISTRICT 6330 SCHOLARSHIPS
INFORMATION SHEET

Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholars. The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to
further international understanding and friendly relations amongst people of different countries. Goals will
include the development of awareness and respect for other cultures and promoting the ideal of service
above self. Candidates are often recent graduates who may have had work experience. They commit to one
or two years study in another country, must be proficient in the language in which they will study, must be
leaders whose study fields have a strong humanitarian impact and preferably who request to study in
countries that do not host many scholars. They must have defined and realistic goals, maturity and sense of
purpose. A flat grant of $23,000 USD will be provided.
Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution.
Rotary Centers provide Rotary World Peace Fellows with the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in
conflict resolution, peace studies, international relations and related areas. They must have a 4-year
undergraduate degree, must qualify for a master’s level program and must be proficient in more than one
language. They will be chosen for their ability to make the greatest impact on world peace and conflict
resolution during their future careers and through service activities. A minimum 3 years work experience is
required.
Candidates endorsed by Rotary District 6330 enter a global competition for one of the 60 fellowships
offered by The Rotary Foundation each year. Our district may endorse one qualified candidate each year
from both USA and Canada. The calculation of the monetary value of scholarship will be individually
determined with an average of $60,000 USD per Fellow.
Rotary Centers for International Studies:
The University of California, USA; The University of Bradford, England; Duke University, USA;
International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan; The University of Queensland, Australia; Universidad
Del Salvador, Argentina.
Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand is a 3month certificate program aimed toward mid to upper level professionals in governments, nongovernmental
organizations and private corporations. Professionals will be trained in conflict resolution and mediation
strategies. Each session will include both academic learning and practical fieldwork components.
Instruction will be in English. Two sessions are offered annually (January-April; July-September) with up
to 30 participants in each session. District 6330 may endorse any number of qualified candidates.
A limited number of full and partial fellowships are available and will be awarded by the Rotary Peace and
Conflict Studies Program Selection Committee. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who
represent low-income countries and sponsor agencies. A minimum 5 years work experience is required.
Inbound Ambassadorial Scholars
District 6330 hosts inbound cultural ambassadorial scholars. They come for 3 or 6 months intensive
language training at Fanshawe College London. The college identifies Home Stay families. Host clubs
and counselors are needed.
The District also hosts inbound academic ambassadorial scholars. They usually come for one year to the
University of Western Ontario, London. Host clubs and counselors are needed.
These inbound scholars may be available to speak at Rotary clubs in the London area.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ROTARY SCHOLARSHIPS
 Applications for Ambassadorial Scholarships and World Peace Fellowships must be received by
the Scholarship Subcommittee Chair by 31st March for the scholarship starting the following year.
 Applications for the Peace and Conflict Studies Program must be received by 31st March for the
following January-April session and 1st September for the following July-September session.
 The first page of the application form is most important. Consideration will only be given to
applicants who are in full sympathy with Rotary’s ideal of service and who are committed to
addressing the humanitarian needs of the world community.
 Applications may be downloaded from the www.rotary.org website.
 Applications must be made through a local Rotary club where you have your permanent residence
or where you are studying full-time and be endorsed by the club.
 Applicants are expected to attend a District interview in person. The date will be negotiated
between the Interview Committee and the applicants.
 The District may recommend one applicant annually for the Ambassadorial scholarship.
 The final decision about awarding Ambassadorial scholarships will be made by The Rotary
Foundation and the Trustees will select the study institution.
 The District may recommend two applicants annually for World Peace Fellowships.
 60 Fellowships are offered on a globally competitive basis annually. The Trustees will select the
study institution.
 The District may recommend qualified candidates for the Peace and Conflict Studies Program. 30
places are available on a globally competitive basis each session.
 Rotarians and close family members are not eligible to apply for any of these scholarships.
 Applicants may NOT apply for an Ambassadorial Scholarship and a World Peace Fellowship in
the same year.
