Grade Girls Basketball Information/Rules

The Bismarck Public Schools will offer girls basketball to 6th grade students. The season begins August 31, 2015 and ends October 31, 2015. Practice schedules will be organized at the beginning of the season by each individual school. Each team will play 6 games and one jamboree (Oct. 27 th

) where they play 3 games over 2 days.

Games will be played on the following dates and locations ( GAME TIMES WILL BE DETERMINED THE

FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICE ):

*Saturday, Sept. 12—Simle Middle School

*Saturday, Sept. 19—Wachter Middle School

*Saturday, Sept. 26—Horizon Middle School

*Saturday, Oct. 3—Simle Middle School

*Saturday, Oct. 10—Wachter Middle School

*Saturday, Oct. 17 - Horizon Middle School

* Tuesday, Oct. 27 – Horizon Middle School

* Saturday, Oct. 31 – Wachter Middle School

***COACHES ARE REMINDED TO REVIEW THE RULES FOR THE 6 TH GRADE PROGRAM.

REMEMBER IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OFFICIALS TO ENFORCE ANY RULES

SPECIFIC TO OUR PROGRAMS. PLEASE NOTE RULE #7 REGARDING SCORE KEEPERS AND

STUDENT MANAGERS***

RULES:

1.

Games will consist of 4 six minute quarters with the clock stopping on every whistle.

2.

Teams will be divided evenly and not by any perceived skill level. There will be no A team, B team, etc.

Playing will be equal for all participants.

3.

The junior size (28.5) basketball will be used for all practice and game sessions. Baskets should be set at ten feet for all games.

4.

Full court pressing, double-teaming, and zone defenses are not allowed.

5.

3 point shot will be counted on properly marked courts.

6.

Tied Games: If at the end of the game the score is tied, a two-minute overtime will be played. If after the first overtime period the score is still tied, a second overtime period is started, with the first team to score being declared the winner.

7.

Coaches will be responsible for finding their own student managers or parent volunteers to help with running the score clocks at each of their games.

8.

All players must sign Code of Conduct form and are required to pay the $20.00 activity fee.
