COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course will provide students with basic sociological terms and concepts. The idea of the course
is to expose students to sociological texts in English in order to be familiar with sociological issues in
English language; this is assist and motivate students in their future career and studies.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

Recognize sociological terms and concepts in English

Identify related sociological terms

Understand sociological issues in English.

SUPPLEMENTARY TEXTBOOKS:
Introduction to Sociology.
COURSE ASSESSMENT:
Test 1: 15%
Test 2: 15%
Debate text & presentation: 15%
Spelling: 10%
Group work as will be assigned: 5%
Final exam: 40%
ATTENDANCE POLICY:

Students are expected to be punctual and attend all classes.

Being absent for more than 25% from course sessions, the student will receive a DN (denied
from final exam).
GENERAL POLICIES:
Mobiles must be switched off during the classes.
Talking during lecture is prohibited and students will be punished.
Students should be punctual with date of essay assignment submission.
