The idea of the course is to expose students to sociological texts in English in order to be familiar with sociological issues in English language; this is assist and motivate students in their future career and studies. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: Recognize sociological terms and concepts in English Identify related sociological terms Understand sociological issues in English. COURSE ASSESSMENT: Test 1: 15% Test 2: 15% Debate text & presentation: 15% Spelling: 10% Group work as will be assigned: 5% Final exam: 40% ATTENDANCE POLICY: Students are expected to be punctual and attend all classes. Being absent for more than 25% from course sessions, the student will receive a DN (denied from final exam). GENERAL POLICIES: Mobiles must be switched off during the classes. Talking during lecture is prohibited and students will be punished. Students should be punctual with date of essay assignment submission.
