I.
Course Description
Laboratory. A departmental representative will visit each student teacher at least once during
the professional semester. Additional visits may occur when more support and/or supervision is
desired, either by the content advisor or the student. Concurrent enrollment in the professional
semester is required. Offered on a Pass-Fail basis only.
II.
Purpose of the Course
To assist and evaluate the teacher candidate’s student teaching while he/she is in the
professional semester.
III. Course Objectives
The student will be able

to work cooperatively with the supervising teacher to develop and present lessons using
content at the appropriate level for the secondary or middle school student.
2
to demonstrate proficiency in their primary content area.
3
to demonstrate curriculum development, instruction, and assessment in their primary
content area.
IV.
Instructional Resources
Instructional materials will be dependent on the teaching requirements of the teacher
candidate’s Cooperating Teacher’s curriculum needs.

Evaluation
A. Overall Evaluation
1. The students are evaluated on the completion and quality of presentations.
2. The students are evaluated on their ability to answer questions in discussion.
3. The students are evaluated on the completion and quality of their instructional
support materials.
B. Evaluation Scale
A=90-100%
B=80-89%
C=70-79%
D=60-69%
F=59% or lower
