COSTS OF FORESTRY PRACTICES IN THE SOUTH, 2012 FOREST LANDOWNER SURVEY Some Suggestions for Respondents Please be as accurate as possible in completing the survey, but it is not necessary to undertake special studies in order to do so. If your records don't readily yield the information we are seeking, just give us the best estimates you can provide. Individual errors in making such estimates will tend to be overcome when we average all of the replies together. When completing the survey be sure to include your cost associated with a vendor operation in the appropriate place. If you have vendor and company operations for the same practice, please use separate entries for each. Government agencies and consultants should use the vendor fee category only when they use a subcontractor to perform a practice. No doubt many of you will wish to delegate responsibility for completing the survey to two or more district headquarters under your supervision with the thought of formulating a single response from your organization. We would prefer that you use separate copies of the survey for each district so that we might use each of them as an individual response in order to strengthen our sample. If you need additional surveys, we will be happy to furnish them for each district, or if you wish you may make copies to use.
