Have you ever struggled with what information to include when you get asked the question on an interview, “Tell me about yourself?” First impressions can often make or break an individual’s chances at successfully selling themselves to a contact or potential employer. Actually, an introduction provides you with a great opportunity to describe yourself as a professional. It offers the opportunity to express your expertise and strengths, and to position your capabilities in the mind of the listener. In order to do this, it is recommended that you craft an “elevator speech.” Your “elevator speech” will help separate you from the crowd. In creating your “elevator speech” you need to be creative and innovative, yet tactful and professional. As well, keep in mind the finished product should take you no more than approximately 60 seconds to verbally recite (about the amount of time you would have in an elevator ride).
