GW-CIBER Summer Doctoral Institute 2016
For Research & Study on
“Institutions, Policies & Development in International Business”
APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
To apply to the GW-CIBER Summer Doctoral Institute (SDI), students must complete this Application
and also submit a Statement of Research Interests, a CV, and a Letter of Recommendation.
Applications must be received by January 17, 2016 to be considered. Only applications from students
enrolled in Ph.D. programs in U.S. institutions will be accepted.
Part of the application requires candidates to list the GW faculty members with whom they would like to
work. Because the faculty mentor-SDI fellow relationship is an important aspect of the program, we
strongly encourage applicants to contact professors to discuss common research interests before applying.
Please note that all fulltime GW faculty members are eligible to participate in the SDI program, so
fell free to explore the faculty web pages of various GW schools and departments. Additionally, you can
see the list of past mentors posted on the SDI webpage.
Please be aware that the proposed research must meet the objectives of GW-CIBER, i.e., it has to (i)
further knowledge in the broad area of International Business; (ii) contribute to U.S. competitiveness;
and (iii) relate to the theme of Institutions, Polices, and Development in International Business.
After applications are received, a committee will select the top applicants, and their profiles will be sent for
review to the GW professors listed in the applications. Based on feedback from the GW professors, the
committee will perform the final matching of doctoral students and mentors. Once the selected applicants
have been matched with faculty mentors, notification of acceptance to the program will be sent by e-mail.
Applicants selected for participation in the program must collaborate with their faculty mentors to
complete and submit a Project Proposal Contract by March 31, 2016.
