Dear Betas and Beta Parents,
State Convention is coming! Southwood’s sponsors would like to take our members to the
South Carolina State Beta Convention. It will be held in Myrtle Beach at the Convention Center on
January 14-16, 2015. The theme is Betas, Rockin’ the Country. This would be a first for Southwood too.
This is a competition event as well as a chance to meet Betas from across the state. Our
students would participate in a variety of areas: academic, arts, crafts, team events, and talent. Look at
the lists below for the specific competitions. We would not be required to enter students in every
category. We will sign up students for events based on personal preference and teacher suggestions.

The anticipated expenses would include registration fee, hotel, transportation, and meals. At
this time, the total is estimated at $140.00-$150.00 per student, and could be paid through installments.
Right now, we need to know how many students are interested and would be committed to
practicing for their event between now and January. Please fill out the slip below and return to one of
the sponsors at our next meeting on October 9, 2014. We will meet Thursday morning at 7:15.
