3.3i CURIN 307 Cooperating Teacher Letter February 8, 2010 Dear Supervising Teacher, On behalf of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, thank you for your willingness to partner with PSU and to share your expertise with our teacher candidates. In addition to letting you know of our appreciation, this letter explains some of the assignments our candidates should complete, with your assistance and/or supervision, at the school site. The letter you received from the Office of Teacher Education, with the name of your PSU student, included is a list of "suggested activities" for the semester. That list offers general ways you might best utilize your teacher candidate's time and talents for the benefit of you and your students. The following are specific requirements for this course that your teacher candidate should accomplish while at your school site: *Discuss with you and any other appropriate school personnel the confidentiality regulations and procedures for student records; *Plan and present two lessons, with your guidance and evaluation; *Maintain an on-site journal - reviewed by you, if you so choose. Forms for evaluations that we request you complete, sign, and return to the student are included with this letter. They are the following: *Lesson Observation Feedback Forms (2) - returned to teacher candidate following lesson presentation; *Mid-Term Evaluation - returned to the teacher candidate by the end of March, if possible. NOTE: We will utilize this mid-term eval to address any concerns, questions, or suggestions you might have, at that point. *Final Evaluation - returned to teacher candidate at the end of site experience. In order to "Pass" this course, the teacher candidate must receive from you all of these signed forms. The teacher candidate will then submit them to this course instructor. The Director of Teacher Education and the course instructor will utilize your ratings and comments, plus the overall performance rating, to evaluate the candidate's growth and progress in our program. Thank you again for sharing your classroom. Without you, we could not provide these important field experiences for our teacher candidates. Have a happy, healthy semester! Sincerely, Dr. Trinity Davis, Assistant Professor Curriculum and Instruction
