Approval of Minutes
a. Vice President Herring: Minutes have not been received yet. Minutes from August 19th and August 26th
will be distributed to Senate along with the Agenda, Director Reports, and Resolutions early next week
for review.
Special Guest Speaker(s):
a. Jorge Leon (AXE Library: Collection Development/Learning Outreach Librarian)
i. Wanting to increase patron use of the library during dead week, finals, and mid-terms.
ii. Working on figuring out what books are needed most for studying.
iii. Some courses have textbooks available in the library.
1. Senator Clem asked about more details of the available textbooks.
a. Pending Advisor Erwin: The Library is not providing textbooks for students but
as emergency supplement available on an hour by hour basis.
i. Senator Clem: Voiced his agreement of providing textbooks for
emergency use.
Officer Reports
a. President Hostetler:
i. Working on overall goals and scheduling of SGA.
ii. Working on Budget to have it ready to present next meeting.
iii. Cabinet Retreat took place earlier today. We covered Zimbra, goals, and Directors’ budget
requests.
iv. Will have calendar of events for the semester availale asap.
v. Come to the office and talk to me about any concerns you want to address before the meeting
please.
b. Vice President Herring:
i. Please sign up for Office Orientation on the sign up sheet being passed around. There are two
dates and times available.
ii. Please hand out vacancy applications asap so we can get prospective candidates interviewed.

the donation cup on top of the fridge.

v. Austin Bailey is on the Academic Honesty Committee. It will meet on September 2nd & 9th from
3:00-5:00pm.

Director Reports
a. Academic Affairs Director Herring:
i. If you haven't been in the office yet this week we have a new system for passing out scantrons.
You will ask for the student's ID card and write their ID number down on the sheet of paper and
just mark what they got in the appropriate column.
ii. Green Books are in. Help explain to students and faculty that they are the “greener” alternative to
Blue Books
iii. I don't think committees have been straightened out yet, but this year I am supposed to be
attending faculty senate meetings. They are once a month Monday at 3:00. A few of the dates this
semester interfere with a class I have so I will need someone to fill in. You would just have to
attend the meeting and then report back to SGA about what happened. If you are interested let me
know.
iv. Working on setting up meeting times and dates with Provost, Olsen.
b. BIG Event Director Botts:
i. Meeting with local financial institutions to secure donations
ii. BIG EVENT! Need we say more?
c. Campus Affairs Director Magee:
i. Miss Pitt State Pageant
1. Senator Clem: Asked for clarification on the pageant.
a. Director Magee: We will focus on the It’s On Us Campaign, Scholarship, and
networking with the Miss Kansas Pageant Organization.
ii. CCI 2 ideas - digital bulletin board wall on the south wall.
iii. Table Flips on tables - advertising, possible source of income. Will distribute information to the
student organizations.
iv. Wanting to get
v. Big Show Concert - Incorporated with Big event - participants will get a discount or incentive
that would contribute
vi. Spirit Art Fashion Show - looking for a volunteer to represent SGA
vii. Working on getting a convertible for Homecoming candidates. Possibly seeing if the police
station has a convertible. We will elect SGA Homecoming Candidates during Open Forum this
evening.
d. Community Affairs Director Lynnes:
i. I wanted to send a reminder about this semesters community service requirements. You are
required to go to at least two Wesley House meeting times. If you have a conflict with the
schedule please let me know and we can set up an alternative community service event for you to
do. Everyone is also required to attend the highway clean up this semester. The date and time will
be announced soon.
ii. Wesley House meeting times are the last Thursday of every month from 5-7 pm. If you wrote
your name on the sign up sheet, be expecting an email from me the Monday before the meeting
time each month as a reminder. If you were not at last weeks meeting and still need to sign up, let
me know ASAP. My cell phone number and email is at the bottom of this message so feel free to
text, call, or email me!
iii. We are participating in Kicks for Kids again this year. Please bring in New, Non-name brand
shoes for elementary boys and girls.
1. Senator Bideau: Are name brand shoes ok if they are on sale?
a. Director Lynnes: You can purchase shoes at Walmart and Payless.
iv. I need to talk to those senators who are helping with the Paint the Town Red competition.
1. Senator Clem: People should volunteer to go to the Chamber Coffees since there is a 2nd
Network Pass.

e. Legislative Affairs Director Gilchrist:
i. On Monday, I met with the homecoming committee and presented the idea to them of putting out
amendments up for vote on their ballot. They are considering it and I will be sending them a
rough mock-up of the amendments that I will propose to senate in September. Again, if anyone is
interested in helping me finish compiling the edits, or has an idea for an amendment, please come
talk to me.
ii. President Hostetler and I have been working on KBOR/SAC goals the last two weeks. If anyone
is interested in helping us work on getting Lifeline 911 passed in the Senate, meet with either of
us during our office hours.
iii. Would like to take a group of 5-6 people to Topeka for a Focus Group.
iv. Constitution Day is coming up in about three weeks, so I am passing around a sign-up sheet for
those that would like to assist me with this. I am going to need several people because I will still
be in Topeka, most likely.
v. I am looking to do a voter registration drive in October. If you have any ideas on how to make
this more successful than last year, let me know!
vi. I want to present Constitutional edits next week. Get with me tomorrow or Friday to review them.
f. Public Relations Director Deuvall:
i. Working on Multiple Projects
ii. Vacancy Posters are almost done, please help distribute and hang on the bulletin boards and Table
Tents
iii. Giant Constitution for Constitution day
iv. Releasing our display case space by the info desk - going to use office from now on.

a. Resolution 15-18: University President’s Choice Advisor Erwin (2nd Reading)
i. Senator Clem moved to Pass the resolution.
ii. Senator Green seconded the motion.
iii. No debate.
iv. Motion passes, with a vote of 16-0-0.
1. Resolution 15-18 is Passed.
b. Resolution 15-19: Student Government Association President’s Choice Advisor Eva Sager (2nd Reading)
i. Senator Bailey moved to Pass the resolution.
ii. Senator Halda seconded the motion.
iii. No debate.
iv. Motion passes, with a vote of 16-0-0.

Advisor Reports
a. Advisor Erwin:
i. Senator Bideau: No one knows about the Gus Shuttle schedule
1. Director Deuvall: Yes!
ii. Senator Bideau: Put the Gus Shuttle on the PSU App?
iii. Senator Halda: Can there be a stop at Kelce? I had to walk a distance. Maybe an additional stop
could be added to extend the route.

iv. Advisor Erwin: The Gus Shuttle is quick now. We don’t want to increase the time with pedestrian
traffic. We’re hoping to get another Gus Shuttle bus.
v. Senator Zavodny: Where is the Gus Shuttle?
1. Advisor Erwin: Looks for the signs. Explained the Gus Shuttle route.
vi. Senator Feuerborn: How long is the wait for the Gus Shuttle?
1. Advisor Erwin: About 5-10 minutes.
vii. Vice-President Herring: I want to ride the Gus Shuttle as an experiment. Please join me.
viii. Senator Zavodny: Does the Gus Shuttle run continuously all day?
1. Advisor: Erwin: Yes.
ix. Senator Bideau: Someone should advertise at The Edge and the Villas.
1. Advisor Erwin: We should all be advertising the Gus Shuttle.
x. Advisor Erwin: Chris Kelly in University Marketing will be promoting it.
xi. Advisor Erwin: $14,000 was given as a CCI project to the Grubbs Hall terrace area. Nothing has
happened. Could be next summer. It’s a big project. Motorcycle parking has been moved to the
back of Grubbs Hall
xii. Advisor Erwin: The transportation page of the PSU website is being built.
xiii. Advisor Erwin: Need people to ride the Gus Shuttle.
xiv. Advisor Erwin: Collect data via a survey soon!
b. Advisor Sager:
i. Check the terrace furniture. Jeff Steinmiller is working on getting a SGA sign. He couldn’t get
bench and trash can, so went with trash can. Will have a plaque or something thanking SGA.
Open Forum
a. Homecoming Candidate Selections: Homecoming King Candidates: Austin Bailey, Brady Holthaus, and
Bobby Gill. After voting, Brady Holthaus will be the 2015 Student Government Association
Homecoming King Candidate. Homecoming Queen Candidates: Ashton Halda, Jaclyn Gilchrist, and
Rachel Herring. After voting, Jaclyn Gilchrist will be the 2015 Student Government Association
Homecoming Queen Candidate.
Announcements
a. Senator Zavodny: Resigning the Constitution. American pride.
b. Vice-President Herring: September 7th, 2015 (next Friday) is the deadline for Vacancy applications.
Thank you for getting students to apply for Senate vacancies.
c. Reminded Vacancy Committee to meet after the meeting this evening.
d. Director Magee: Going to build a competition between student organizations involving the Dream
Machine.
e. Advisor Sager: Campus Activities Center is teaching Freshman Experience Instructors. We are
mentioning Student Government Association and other campus activities. This should help promote us.
We’ll also encourage the Dream Machine.
f. Director Magee: Let me know if which senators want to participate in the Gorilla Games for
Homecoming.
g. Don’t forget Filharmonic is performing Monday, August 31st, 2015.
