Minutes of Missouri State University Panhellenic
November 4, 2015
The General Council meeting was called to order by President Libby Shannon at 3:30 pm at the Union
Club. The roll was called by Vice President of Administration, Bailey West.

PREVIOUS MINUTES The previous minutes were read and approved by our delegate.
OFFICER REPORTS
I.
President, Libby Shannon (Elizabeth16@live.missouristate.edu )
a. Congratulations to the women slated for speeches! Please come listen to these women share
their ideas at 2:30, this Sunday in the Cheek lecture hall.
II.
VP of Community Relations, Courtney Bollig (Bollig414@live.missouristate.edu)
a. Up Til Dawn: Your teams should be registered.10 days til kickoff, please have the $600 raised
for your team or by your chapter before the Kick off Event on November 14th.
b. Join the men of Phi Gamma Delta for a discussion on #FSLDiversity and
what that means at Missouri State. Join us at this educational event for a conversation on how
we recruit diversity, maintain that as a norm in our organizations, and what it means to be
inclusive leaders. November 10th at 7pm in PSU Theatre
III.
VP of Membership Development, Haley Clark (Clark303@live.missouristate.edu)
a. I hope everyone had a great Sisterhood Week. Be on the lookout for a survey.

VP of Recruitment, Ellie Edwards (Edwards711@live.missouristate.edu)
a. No Report.
V.
VP of Academics, Julie Daoust (Julie93@live.missouristate.edu)
a. Donuts for Dean's list next week, November 11-12th from 8am-noon each day. Hurts donuts
will be passed out in the PSU for those who earned a 3.5 or higher during the Spring '15
semester. I'll get a list to chapters of their members who are on the Dean's list by this weekend.
b. Delegate feedback about Cram Jam again for finals week? December 7th and 8th.
c. Chris and I have an FSL Academic scholarship that we are working on and finalizing.
Applications will hopefully be out by this Friday in the OSE. Any student at MSU can apply and
FSL members are highly encouraged to apply. We will be giving out One-$200, Two- $300 and
One- $500 scholarships, which will be in the form of gift cards to the bookstore. So if a student
gets that scholarship they can use it towards textbooks, a new iPad, bear wear or school
accessories. Please share this with your entire chapter and encourage people to apply. The
application is simple and won't take too much time to complete. They will be due on November
20th.

b. Details about Meet MoState FSL
When: Sunday Nov 15th PSU theatre @ 3:30pm
What: inform our community on the 3 councils we have on campus.
Why: Bears breaking barriers

This will count as an education event for chapters
●
This event is so important that even if you have something mandatory that day as a
chapter, it may be beneficial to send a liaison for the chapter and excuse them
●
Will be discussing NPHC intake (recruitment), rules they have, apparel guidelines,
expectations and facts about their traditions, lifestyle ETC.
●
Will set the community up for improved relationships
●
Open to both community members and unaffiliated students
●
Tell your friends
●
NPHC will be strolling

a. Apply for FSLSA! The applications are on FSL campus link as well as FSLSA campus link!
Apps for Exec are due 13th of Nov. and the Interest forms for reps are due 13th of Nov.
b. Next general council for FSLSA is Nov. 17th! (It is also the last general council)
c. Spotlight: Dorothy Height
Dorothy Height was an American administrator, educator, and social activist. She was the
president of the National Council of Negro Women for forty years, and was awarded the
Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1994, and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2004. She also
served as the national president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. from 1946- 1957.

Chief Justice, Kaylee Trost (Kaylee913@live.missouristate.edu )
a. 5.19 Wristbands will be given at the entrance to the social event with alcohol and will be
issued only to those of legal drinking age. Wristbands provided to guest must be the official bands
provided by the Office of Student Engagement. The people distributing wristbands shall be those
listed as sober party monitors.

Associate Chief Justice, Lauren Vincent (Lauren26@live.missouristate.edu )
a. Ethics Policy Spotlight: Diversity. We encourage, respect, and protect diversity in our
community by promoting and accepting each woman’s unique personalities and characteristics.
b. Panhellenic Standards Star! Know someone that represents the sorority community at MSU
really well? Nominate her to be Panhellenic Standards Star!

Complete a nomination form( Available on the FSL Website) for a sister or a friend, and
submit it to lauren26@live.missouristate.edu by Monday, November 30th at 11:59 PM
for your nomination to be put into the Panhellenic Standards Star drawing for the month
of November! The winner will be announced at General Council on Wednesday,
December 2nd (the last PHA meeting of the semester) and she will receive a $15.00 giftcard to Starbucks for being a STAR as well as an Instagram Spotlight!

a. Emerging Leaders applications are due Friday, November 6th in the Office of Student

E. Edwards asks to entertain a motion to open discussion on Extension. SIgma Kappa motions. Alpha Chi
Omega seconds.
Discussion points: Gamma Phi Beta Internationals is concerned about their ability meet total.
Alpha Delta Pi’s Headquarters has the same concerns.
Xi Omicron Iota as a local chapter would like to see extension happen.
Edwards encouraged chapters that have questions or do not feel prepared to vote to open for extension
today to vote in favor of tabling the vote until next week.
E. Edwards asks to entertain a motion to close discussion on Extension. Alpha Chi Omega motions.

E. Edwards motions to vote to postpone voting on extension until next Wednesday, November 11th.

NEW BUSINESS
Greek Week Schedule. We will vote to approve next week, November 11th.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
AXΩ: Our Mom's Weekend is this weekend and we are excited to welcome them here!
AΔΠ: We will be hosting our first ever Pasta With The Pi's this Thursday where we will be having the
men's soccer team come over to our house. We have a Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner sisterhood event
coming up at the beginning of next week!
AΣA: This week is our initiation week and we can't wait to initiate 90 women on Friday
ΔZ: Thank you to everyone who came out to our pancake dinner last night. We have a sister hood
coming up this weekend which we are all very excited about!
ΓΦB: We are looking forward to semi-formal this weekend.
ΣK: Founder’s Day Celebration is Sunday to celebrate Founder’s Day on Monday!
ΣΣΣ: This Friday night is our Tri Sigma Night Live philanthropy comedy show. It will be in Carrington Hall
from 6:30-8:30 and will cost $6. We would love your support!
ΞOI: We are excited for our Semi Formal this coming Friday and we're also getting ready to interview our
new executive board!

Phi Sigma Upsilon: Phi Sigma Upsilon initiated 63 new members this past Monday night! We
want to thank everyone for encouraging your new members to apply!

SGA: Looking into getting an outdoor seating area next to the fountains. Survey to voice your
opinion on what should be included in this area and to learn more about it:

- Working on the creation of an Indigenous Peoples Day, which would start here at Missouri State and
hopefully expand to be recognized statewide
