Advisor’s Meeting 9/22/09 Advisors Present: Ivan Hess, Phi Delta Theta Andrew Crain, Pi Kappa Phi Scott Park, Kappa Sigma Stephanie Merinak, Alpha Sigma Alpha Deb Cleary, Alpha Sigma Alpha Megan Akert, PHA President Andrew Schussler, IFC President Speaker: Danny Pape, IFC Director of Administration Danny came to speak with the group about a potential Encumbrance Policy that IFC and PHA would like to get started on IFC and PHA would work with the university to create a standardized system to ensure that when members leave while owing money that the university can have involvement as well Truman State University, Ball State University and Purdue University are just a few examples of institutions that have this policy. Please follow the link to review Ball State’s current policy: http://cms.bsu.edu/en/CampusLife/GreekLife/currentmem/housing/ep.aspx The university has a new computer system which is going to take some time to get used to which might in turn slow down this process initially Discussion arose about how do other groups handle payment from members who leave Theta Chi will not let members who have outstanding balances become an alumni of the chapter –they can be alumni of the National organization but not the chapter Phi Delta Theta asks for legal guardian information so they can work with them Pay pal was also brought up as a potential resource We will talk about this topic again in October Kappa Sigma House Tour Recruitment Updates: 310 women accepted bids into a Panhellenic sorority o We will be having a conference call to review recruitment and also discuss recommendations for next year 233 men accepted bids into an IFC fraternity (We don’t have Omega Delta Phi’s and Alpha Gamma Sigma’s #s yet) o IFC is also looking at a recruitment task force for the Spring semester o IFC will be sending an email to men who didn’t get bids about the expansion presentations NPHC Intake – weekend got moved to another time o Thursday, Sept. 24th (7:45pm-8:45pm) Informational o Friday, Sept. 25th (5:00pm) Block Party behind Freddy o Saturday, Sept. 26th Tailgating at Football Game o Sunday, Sept.27th (10:15) Meet at Bearpaw for Church Xi Omicron Iota Local recruitment – o Sept. 20th -24th o Bid Day: Sept. 26th Ways to Get Involved: Greek Week Chair Applications – these were due Monday, Sept. 21st GAMMA (Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol) – meetings are held every other Thursday at 6:00pm in PSU Junior Greek – applications and interviews will take place in Oct.
