They currently are fundraising and see rent potentially being about $600.00 a month Advisor Appreciation Month – Thank you for all that you do! Greek Week Update/ Calendar o Please see packet attached o VIP Banquet on Thursday night (April 25th) – it is a full dinner service so please make sure to come. Additionally, there will be a number of awards given out not only here but after Greek Jam o Please make sure to come out to Greek Jam o Please make sure the chapters are aware that there is a grievance form if they feel something isn’t right with Greek Week. The form can be found in the packet and it is a great process where they can talk through the issues taking place instead of being in the heat of the moment. Homecoming Courting Update o Women are courting men right now o Tri Sigma is placed within a pairing – they are with Xi Om Annual Feedback Meetings o This year I tried something new where I asked them to submit their SWOT before the meeting and I think it is successful as the meeting have been going much better o We are about half way through the meetings New Staffing Model Feedback o I am looking at different ways we can fund a new staff member(s) – at this point and time, I see the need for additional staff members to ensure we are able to work with the chapters in a better manner, be consistent with all of the councils no matter the size and also working with the incoming chapters o I have been thinking about different funding areas and have asked the councils if it is possible for the individual chapter members to fund additional staff members by paying a fee of either $20 per member or $15 per member per semester o This would have to be voted on in the councils o I have submitted a proposal to my Director with specific details on the potential position(s) o Feedback from advisors: make sure to think about impact on current chapters when speaking about new chapters coming to campus, think about assessing future students going through recruitment Fraternity T-shirts o NPC policy against women wearing shirts during recruitment and also “Rush” Please work with the men to help them understand how not to use the women in their recruitment efforts. According to the National Panhellenic Conference, the men should be recruiting for themselves and I couldn’t agree more o Alcohol based shirts Please discourage the men from making shirts which reference alcohol and then sell them to the women. It doesn’t make sense to me to have alcohol be the way to go on a shirt – faculty/ staff/ parents/ anyone visiting Missouri State can see this Summer Meeting o July 20th Fall Recruitment Events o Please see attachment Tri Sigma Update o Panhellenic is still trying to figure out the details regarding Sigma’s involvement in recruitment – they will vote on April 10th o Sigma has provided funding for our awards during Greek Week – they will be sponsoring the VIP reception. They have talked about sending a representative from their organization to this night Lambda Chi Alpha Update o Lambda Chi Alpha will be arriving in the spring semester of 2014 to begin their efforts o Rick Uffman, Associate Director of Taylor Health will be their faculty/staff advisor and will be invited to advisor meetings in the fall Staffing Changes o Dr. Doman will be retiring this year and his retirement party will take place on April 16th from 3:00 – 5:00pm in the ballroom. Please encourage the chapters and also any alumni who might be interested to attend. Dr. Doman was able to share some kind words regarding advisors tonight The search process for his position is currently taking place and he shared that they have conducted phone interviews and will be moving forward to on campus interviews soon o Jeremy Schenk, the Director of the Office of Student Engagement will be leaving in May to obtain a job at Virginia Commonwealth. His going away party will take place on May 2nd. July o Our current graduate assistant, Colleen Pace will be graduating this year and our new graduate assistant, Olivia Parks will begin her work in August. Olivia (Liv) is a current student at MSU and a SOAR team leader for the summer. o I will begin coursework for the Mizzou Statewide Doctoral Program in July. During that month, I will only be in the office on Thursdays and Fridays – please be aware of this taking place. If you have questions, please call the office. Fall Advisor Meetings o I will get out a schedule of fall advisor meetings to you over the summer however they will look similar to this year.
