This motion is effective September 19, 2007." POLICY CITATION Regents' Policy 10.04.020 – Degree and Certificate Program Approval, states "All academic and certificate program additions, deletions, major revisions, and offerings of existing programs outside the State of Alaska will be approved by the Board of Regents." (02-16-96) RATIONALE AND RECOMMENDATION Reference 5 contains the rationale for approval of this program. University administration will review the proposal with members of the committee. B. Ongoing Issues A. Discussion regarding a University of Alaska Law School Reference 8 Regent Kirk Wickersham has requested that the Academic and Student Affairs Committee consider the possibility of funding a study for the creation of a law school at the University of Alaska. The Institute of Social and Economic Research conducted a study in 2004 which is included in Reference 8. Regent Wickersham has provided a powerpoint presentation and an update of the law school study he did in 2003 – both documents are also included in Reference 8. B. Update on Student Services Assistant Vice President Saichi Oba will update committee members on current fall enrollment figures and on the Taylor Report. C. Report from the Vice President for Academic Affairs Vice President Dan Julius will update committee members on projects and issues of interest.
