Approval of Graduate Certificate in Nursing at the University of Alaska Anchorage Reference 12 Provost Kassier will present information regarding the request for approval of Graduate Certificate in Nursing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Information regarding this program is included in Reference 12. Approval of Academic Degree Program Continuations Reference 13 In 2001, the Board of Regents approved four academic degree programs that included the following language in the approval motion: ". . . with the stipulation that the new program be reviewed by the Board of Regents in five years for continuation." Approval of Establishment of Alaska Center for Supply Chain Integration at the University of Alaska Anchorage Reference 14 The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will discuss a request for the Board of Regents to approve the establishment of an Alaska Center for Supply Chain Integration at the University of Alaska Anchorage. A description of the center and justification for its establishment is in Reference 14. This motion is effective December 8, 2004." IV. Ongoing Issues A. Update on Needs-Based Aid Mike Sfraga, associate vice president for Student Services and Enrollment Management, will provide an update regarding the development of a needs-based financial aid program. University of Alaska staff and faculty, as well as, representatives from appropriate state and non-profit entities have been meeting to further refine the development of this program. Dr. Derek Price, former director of Research, Lumina Foundation, is assisting the University in this endeavor. This update will include a review of work-to-date, applicable interim findings, and timelines. It is anticipated that a full interim report will be available to the Board of Regents at the end of the fall semester 2004. Report on Holds on Student Accounts and its Due Process Issues Meg Greene, interim General Counsel, and Mike Sfraga, associate vice president for Student Services and Enrollment Management, will provide an update on the university's efforts to proactively notify students of issues that may delay or prohibit class registration. C. Update on Recent Accreditation Visits Reference 15 The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NCCU) has recently conducted visits at the University of Alaska Southeast and at Prince William Sound Community College. In addition, NCATE accreditation visits have been conducted at several campuses. Provosts will update the committee regarding these visits.
