Define major components of a coordinated approach to distance education for the UA system with special attention to known challenges. How can we use educational technology to in a concerted approach to teaching and learning efforts across the UA system? 10:00 Discussion of major concerns related to enlarged distance education efforts including: allocation of tuition and fees; work load agreements; access to instructional designers; intellectual property; and quality assurance. 11:30 Create a document with elaboration of current distance education issues. 12:00 Lunch provided 1:00 Demonstration of three current tools that allow delivery of distance education across MAUs originating at any campus – Carol Gering and Chris Lott 1:30 Review the Distributed Gateway for improvement suggestions. 2:00 Specification of a “Focused View” and a “Course Offering Plan” web-based tracking tool – Donna Schaad 3:00 Further discussion of first year goals for the Steering Board with emphasis on distributed work group methods and tools. 4:00 Wrap up meeting.
