Associated Students of Willamette University 29 Aug 2013 – 7pm – Montag Den Senate Agenda 1. Call to Order 1.01 Meeting was called to order at 7:02pm 2. Roll Call 2.01 All were present 3. Approval of the Agenda 3.01 Newcomb moves to approve, approved. 4. Officer Reports 4.01 Greenblatt- Working on getting justices nominated and they will be voted on tonight. Also working on the president’s task force for sexual violence. Breakfast for dinner at Willamette Night Out went well. She has also been working with Goudy for late night hot food options for the future. 4.02 Hanson- Working on zeroing out ASWU accounts. Working to get additional club funding. 4.03 Chand- Senate one on ones and senate retreat planning 5. Confirmation of ASWU Sound Manager 5.01 Greenblatt- ASWU exec has nominated Jordan Loos as the ASWU sound manager for this upcoming year. He was the manager last year, and ASWU sound had great success with his leadership. He has wonderful plans for revising tech training. Smythe moves to confirm, approved. 6. Confirmation of Honorary Degree Committee Representative 6.01 Greenblatt- The honorary degree committee wanted one more student and Jessica Warren has been nominated. She was on the academic council committee last year, and looks forward to serving this year. Smythe moves to confirm, approved. 7. ASWU/ASP Mentor 1. ASWU/ASP Mentor Job Description and Stipend Proposal 1. Chand- moving to add a stipended position as ASP mentor, 3 hour a week commitment, with a 300 dollar a semester stipend. This would come from the office budget. Newcomb moves to confirm, approved. 2. Confirmation of ASWU/ASP Mentor 1. Chand- Moves to nominate Kenderick Arikaki, served as IPC and IPC lead team, and worked with Senator Ramon last semester. 8. ASWU Judicial Branch 1. Chand- Justices will serve as a check for the senate. The chief justices will attend weekly meetings. They will serve semester long terms. 2. Confirmation of ASWU Justices 1. Greenblatt- Introduces justice nominees: Alexandra Babij, junior, Jacob Van Baleen, sophomore, Soren Underdahl, junior, Nick Borriello, senior. Greenblatt clarifies that we are voting for the three official nominees and in the circumstance that one does not get approved, the alternate can then be approved or disapproved. Smythe moves to confirm nominee Borriello, not approved by a two thirds vote. Sader explains that the senate really likes the alternate and that this is what may have led to these nominees not being approved. Newcomb moves to approve nominee Van Baleen, approved.
