IH 35 Project Development
Current scope of work:
• Prepare route studies - design
layouts.
• Prepare environmental assessment.
• Conduct public meetings.
6
Initially Suggested Alternatives
Design prepared for Year 2030 traffic
• Alternative I – Six-lane (three lanes in each direction) barrier
separated roadway with two-lane one-way frontage roads;
follows existing IH 35 alignment where possible
• Alternative II – Same as Alternative I with the addition of a
grassy median for possibility of future inside fourth lane in
each direction
• Alternative III – Six-lane (three lanes in each direction with a
grassy median and room for future expansion) roadway
without frontage roads on a new alignment
• Multiple alignment alternatives around Valley View
7
Mobility Needs
Design accommodates Year 2030 Traffic:
• 2005 Existing Traffic – 42,000 ADT
• 2030 Forecast Traffic – 80,000+ ADT
ADT – Average Daily Traffic

Selection Considerations
• Public Comment and Preference
• Refined based on design
considerations
• Analyzed in Value Engineering Study
• Determined traffic required four lanes
in each direction
