Task
Design the procedures and exercises before and after the field study to help students to construct
their knowledge.
Reminder:
As the assessment for learning is stressed, the construction of knowledge and attitude students
adopted in the field study are important.
Topic:
S4 field study on the fluvial processes and landforms and man’s impact on the environment of Tung
Chung River.
Objectives:
Knowledge / Concepts
1) Identify different fluvial processes operating in different courses of the Tung Chung River;
2) Describe and compare the characteristics of a river at different courses;
3) Compare and contrast the water quality of different sites along the river channel;
4) Point out the ways man modified the river channel;
5) Suggest some ways to maintain sustainable development of the Tung Chung River.
Skills
1) Apply map reading and interpretation skills in the field work;
2) Measure and test the stream velocity and pollution level at different check points;
3) Use of problem-solving skills to derive a plan for sustainable development of Tung Chung
River.
