Use the form below to analyse carbon-13 spectra that you are given. Remember to refer to the OCR
Data Sheet to help you find possible identities for peaks at each chemical shift value

List any significant carbon environments that are not in the structure, as there is no peak at the
relevant chemical shift value:
Draw the structure of the compound:
Now double-check your proposed structure.


Identify all the different carbon environments. How many are there? Does the number
match the number of peaks in the spectrum?
Can you match each carbon environment to a peak in the spectrum using the expected
chemical shift values?
