Assessor observation: Candidate paces their delivery so that it is appropriate to the listener, topic and context. The pace of speech is not so
fast that the listener (or assessor) struggles to follow the delivery.

Assessor observation: Candidate paces their delivery so that there is minimal hesitation. The pace of speech is not so slow that the listener
(or assessor) struggles to understand the delivery. Engagement with the delivery is maintained because there is little hesitation.
2.1
Use informal and formal language appropriate to the situation
Assessor observation: Candidate uses a level of formality and register that is appropriate to the listener and topic. Some of the words used
are appropriate to the situation (for example workplace, social activity or interview). Informal language is not used where the candidate may
be unfamiliar to the listener and where slang phrases or idioms are not appropriate. Formal language is adapted to suit the level of familiarity
of the situation.
2.2
Use a level of formality appropriate to the situation to obtain information
Assessor observation/question: Candidate phrases questions so that they are appropriate to the level of formality required of the situation,
using politeness conventions required of the situation. (Assessor may need to ask additional questions where opportunities during the
assessment do not arise.)
3.1
Use a level of detail relevant to the situation when giving explanations, accounts and/or descriptions
Assessor observation: Candidate keeps to the point, giving a level of detail that is appropriate to the listener. The candidate does not
introduce other ideas that may cause delivery to stray from the topic. Candidate ensures that their explanations, accounts and/or
descriptions are concise.
