Exhibition of Senior Secondary School Students’ Visual Arts Portfolios (2015/16) Notice to Participating Schools 1. (i) Entry Submission Form (Appendix a) (ii) Portfolio Information Sheet (Appendix b) (iii) Declaration and Permission Slip (Appendix c) Submit the following items to the Arts Education Section, Room W325, 3/F, West Block, EDB Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon: (i) A soft copy of the visual arts portfolios (EACH portfolio should include the research workbook and 4 pieces of artwork/critical studies); (ii) A soft copy of the completed Entry Submission Form and Portfolio Information Sheet; (iii) The original copy of Entry Submission Form with School Principal’s signature and school chop; and (iv) The original copy of Completed Declaration and Permission Slips. After the first round selection, schools will be notified to submit the original artworks of the selected portfolios to the Arts Education Section for final adjudication. The exhibition will be held at the Young Achievers’ Gallery, Podium, West Block, EDB Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon. Students whose entries selected for exhibition will be awarded book coupons and certificates, and will be invited to attend the prize presentation ceremony. Schools will be notified to collect all entries at the Arts Education Section during office hours. Participants Participants should be candidates of the 2015 Visual Arts of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, and full-time students of secondary schools in Hong Kong in 2014/2015 school year. 3. Entry Requirements ▪ Each school should not submit more than THREE students’ portfolios. ▪ Each portfolio for exhibition should include the research workbook and 1-4 pieces of original artwork developed from that portfolio, while the rest of the artwork/ critical studies can be reproductions. ▪ Both the research workbook and the artworks should be the original work by the participants. ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ Participants can use any kind of visual arts forms and media. For video, it should be submitted in MPEG format and saved on a DVD. Fragile materials should be avoided. Any 2-D entries should not exceed 114cm x 182cm, and any 3-D entries should not exceed 60cm x 60cm x 180 cm (height). Any entries submitted without a valid Declaration and Permission Slip, and completed Portfolio Information Sheet will not be accepted for selection. Each finished artwork could be mounted / framed appropriately. The organiser will not accept any entries not complying any of with the above requirements. 4. Intellectual Property Rights All participating students, students’ parents or guardians, as well as the school should note and agree with the following: ▪ No entries infringing intellectual property rights will be accepted. In cases when the Education Bureau, the curator or any related/affiliated organisations of the exhibition are put to any legal actions, demands, claims and costs arising from the entries that are infringing intellectual property rights, the participants concerned shall accept full liability and indemnify the Education Bureau, the curator or any related organisations of the exhibition for all loss and damages; and ▪ The Education Bureau retains the right to use and display all the entries, in part or in whole, in any forms for exhibition and education purposes. 5. Selection of Entries ▪ A judging panel comprising arts educators and artists will select the exhibits. ▪ The selection criteria will be mainly based on the assessment criteria for the Visual Arts School-based Assessment of Hong Kong Diploma Secondary Education Examination. ▪ Each student whose entry selected for exhibition will be awarded a book coupon at HK$1,000 and a certificate. The schools and teachers concerned will be presented with certificates of appreciation. ▪ Results of the judging panel will be final. 6. Submission of Entries First round of selection ▪ Schools should submit the following items to the Arts Education Section for first round of selection: (i) A soft copy of the visual arts portfolios (EACH portfolio should include the research workbook and 4 pieces of artwork/critical studies); (ii) A soft copy of the completed Entry Submission Form and Portfolio Information Sheet; (iii) The original copy of Entry Submission Form with School Principal’s signature and school chop; and (iv) The original copy of Completed Declaration and Permission Slips. ‧ A Portfolio Information Sheet should be completed for each portfolio, which including an artist’s statement (not more than 500 words describing the theme of the portfolio, its idea and major artist(s)/art phenomenon that the student has made reference to, and his/ her articulation of idea, etc.) and the information of the four pieces of artwork / critical studies. Return of Entries ‧ Schools should collect all entries at the Arts Education Section, Room W321, 3/F, West Block, EDB Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon during office hours in March 2016, and the dates will be announced in due course. ‧ All selected entries should not be collected before March 2016. 9.
