Many of the computers on our campus are at or near end of life. We need to replace over half of our student and teacher desktops that are at end of life but currently in use on campus. This includes our entire LMR lab. Our Mac lab computers are also nearing end of life and will need to be replaced in the next few years with PC’s. We would like to purchase 40 new PC laptops to go on our COWS to replace the 7 remaining iMac laptops from 2 complete COW’s that we had originally. Our part time tech specialist has now been hired full time beginning in the fall. More support needs to be offered on the TEKS & IPG’s implementation. Having a full-time tech specialist on site will hopefully allow for more professional development opportunities. Better use of our IT Facilitator should also be utilized for training purposes. Future Vision and Direction O. Henry would benefit from having more up-to-date equipment available to students and staff in the classrooms and computer labs. This would help increase the amount of research that our students are able to do while at school as well as the ability to develop technology-enriched projects. In addition, opportunities for podcasting, blogs, digital video and digital cameras should be provided. Professional development opportunities need to be made available to our faculty. We need to better inform our teachers about workshops offered by the AISD IT Department during the school year as well as summer, e-Campus, TCEA and NECC. Campus Tech Plan 2008-2009 5 of 14 O.
