Campus Tech Plan 2009-2010 4 of 10 Burnet Middle School Department of Instructional Technology Future Vision and Direction In three years Burnet would like to be ahead of the game using technology to facilitate instruction as an instructional tool and as an assessment tool. Ideally students and teachers would be using technology on a daily basis to improve knowledge and skills. There would be a higher ratio of computers to students, higher quality of lesson plans and student created products integrating technology, differentiated professional development for teachers at different levels in their tech literacy to improve skills, abilities, and teaching methods/techniques, increased level of support from administration and other staff in planning, instruction, and online learning. In order to arrive at this vision Burnet is taking positive steps through the purchase of IGNITE! Learning, cooperation in the Burnet side of the AISD Tech Bond, and pursuing other means of incorporating technology. Campus Improvement Plan Alignment At Burnet we continually strive to develop as a campus by improving our instruction. One of the essential goals in promoting technologically literate students is having technologically literate teachers. Through both the CIP and our Campus Technology plan, we continue to build on our teachers’ knowledge of software and hardware through professional development and training. Burnet has also taken a proactive role purchasing interactive boards and software that allows more hands-on student participation and learning through technology. Some teachers will also attend summer training on the use of the new Innovation Stations to be installed over the summer as part of the AISD Technology Bond. The continuous desire to keep up with an ever changing society drives many Burnet teachers to improve themselves professionally in order to effect change in our students’ learning.
