Using “Beyond Campus” to carry out fieldwork
“Beyond Campus” is a free web device developed by the IT in Education Section, CDI and is
hoisted in the HKedCity. The following link is the website:

Based on the field trip to Bowen Road, a fieldwork exercise has been designed. You can download
the apps from the following website and then use it in your mobile device.

There are altogether 10 checkpoints but in 8 checkpoints, there are tasks to fulfill. Students can
simply finish the tasks in each checkpoint and press the “submit” key after finishing all the tasks.
The work will be submitted to the field trip designer. The following will demonstrate how the
students can finish the task.
Step 1: Start the trip
1. Open the apps “Beyond Campus”. On the front page, type the “trip key” inside the box “Get a
Trip”.
Type: “B00760E5A” onto the box.
Then, press “Go”.

Step 2: Completing the task
1. When approaching a checkpoint, press the yellow arrow under each checkpoint and you will see
the tasks. Simply answer the questions or finish the task of each checkpoint.
2. After answering the questions or task of each checkpoint, press “complete”.
Then it will go to
another checkpoint.

3. After completing all the tasks in all checkpoints, you can press “submit” and the answers will be
sent to the fieldwork designer.
There are many trips designed in the website which are open to public. There is no need
to create an account if you just want to complete the tasks. However, the completed tasks
will be sent to the trip designer. If you want to design some tasks by yourself, you need to
create an account.
Create an account in “Beyond Campus”
1. On the main menu of the web page, press “sign in” on the top left hand corner. Fill in all the
information required. Please note: for the e-mail account, they only accept those with (.edu) or
(.gov).
2. After creating your account, you can enter the website to design your own fieldwork.

Design your own fieldwork
1. Login your own account. On the front page, press “Plan the trip”. Then press “New trip” on the
right hand corner of the page.
2. On the map, search for the place that you plan to have field trip and adjust the scale for your
use.
3. Then give your trip a title and type in some descriptions.
4. Press “save”.

5. You will get the “Trip key” after setting the title of the trip.

6. Press “Checkpoints & Tasks”.
7. Press “Add” to create a new checkpoint.

9. Type the name and descriptions of the checkpoint in the spaces provided.

one task, you can add another by repeating the steps.
13. After finish, press “save” under the task and the one above the map.

1. Login your account.
2. Press “After trip” on the front page.
3. Press “open” on the trip that you have designed.
4. Press “view” to look at your students’ work.
