Adapted PE Teaching Assistants Expectations
Teaching assistants are assistants for APE. There is no option for not assisting students in
APE, without the APE teacher’s approval. Responsibilities for Teacher Assistants in APE are as
follows:







Dress appropriately for Adapted Physical Education classes (sport shoes).
Escort students to gym or activity prior to class time.
Place students in assigned area for activity.
Assist all students with activities using physical and or verbal prompting.
Assist with the instruction of skills. It is the responsibility of the teacher assistants to
fulfill any directions given by the adapted physical education teacher.
Escort students back to classroom upon completion of activities.
The use of a personal cell phone during instruction time is prohibited
