I have basic knowledge of the location and proper use of the following:
exits, fire safety equipment, emergency showers and eyewashes, first
aid kits, broken glass containers and Material Safety Data Sheets.
Broken glassware must be disposed of in the broken glass boxes, not
in the garbage.
Dispose of all unwanted chemicals or chemical waste in the proper
containers as indicated by the instructor.
Learn how to use lab equipment safely and correctly.
I will not eat, drink, or apply cosmetics in the laboratory.
Body areas contacted by hazardous chemicals should be rinsed with
water for 10 minutes. Any clothing affected must be removed and
body areas rinsed thoroughly.
During wet labs, I will always wear eye protection approved of by my
instructor.
I will not wear open-toed shoes in the laboratory.
Protective gloves and aprons are available for student use.
I will properly restrain long hair, loose clothing, and dangling jewelry.
I will wash my hands before leaving the laboratory.
I will read labels on chemical containers before using or pouring.
I will walk with caution and handle all chemicals carefully.
I will reports spills and accidents, no matter how minor, to the
instructor.
I will comply with instructions given by the instructor.
I will examine glassware for cracks and/or chips before use.
I will clean the glassware I use completely and properly.
If I am pregnant, take immunosuppressive drugs, or have a medical
condition that might necessitate special precautions in the laboratory; I
will confidentially inform the instructor immediately.
No children are allowed in the laboratory.
