II. Announcements
A.
Greg Cook welcomed new and returning members to the committee for AY 2013-2014. All
members were introduced, and the voting status of members was reviewed.
B.
Greg updated the committee on office staffing in the Provost’s office. Becky Pfeifer will begin
September 27 as a new administrative assistant in support of the UCC and the campus
curriculum process. Curriculum proposals should be forwarded to Kari Heidenreich until Sept.
27 and to Becky thereafter.
C.
Greg noted that the UCC agendas with hyperlinks do not seem to be working in the Safari
browser. Members offered solutions for using Safaris. Committee members should note potential
incompatibilities when accessing UCC documents. Firefox does seem to work.
D.
The timeline for 2013-2014 UCC meetings and deadlines is available on the UCC website. Jodi
Hare-Paynter reminded members that due to the possibility of moving to a campus-wide
curriculum and catalog software package, the regularly scheduled catalog year is postponed for
one year.
E.
Greg summarized the Report of Audit & Review Committee’s Recommendations and reminded
members that curriculum proposals should be reviewed in light of resources, staffing, and other

Other Items for Action or Discussion
1.
Greg reminded committee members that the +/- grading scale goes into effect this
semester for graduate courses. Greg recommended that committee members please
remind faculty members in their constituencies that they should list the grading scale in
the syllabus that they intend to use when issuing student grades. For example, if faculty
members plan to assign +/- grades, the +/- scale should be listed in the syllabus.
2.
CourseLeaf Software for curriculum and catalog:
Jodi presented information regarding the CourseLeaf curriculum and catalog system and
answered questions from the Committee. Greg noted that the UCC will be instrumental in
the implementation of this system.
Boostrom moved that the UCC recommends the purchase of CourseLeaf software for
UW-Whitewater; Leitheiser seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Allsen moved to adjourn; Boostrom seconded. Motion passed unanimously, and the
meeting ended at approximately 3:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted:
Elizabeth Olson
