SPECIAL DEPARTMENT MEETING: Selection of Candidates for Interviews
Tuesday, October 23, 2012, 3:45-5:00 pm, WHITE 328
CLARIFICATION OF PARTICIPATION AND DECISION PROCESS: According to the department bylaws,
participation in the Selection of Candidates meeting can include (1) members of the Search & Screen
Committees, (2) all tenured and tenure-track faculty members of the department, and (3) all members
of the department’s instructional academic staff who have a 50% or greater appointments and who
have been employed by the department for at least 2 years. The vote as to which among top candidates
offered by the Search & Screen Committees to bring to campus for an interview are by simple majority.
After reviewing the files of “short-list” candidates offered by the Search & Screen Committees and
discussing them, we will rank the “short-list” candidates offered by the Search & Screen Committees,
select 3 candidates to interview for each tenure-track faculty position, and select two ranked alternate
candidates should one or more of the 3 selected interview candidates becomes unavailable.
By the authority of Wisconsin Statutes 19.85 (1) (c), the members of the Department will decide by a
motion and roll call vote of the majority whether the Selection of Candidates meeting shall be
conducted in a CLOSED SESSION.
