Summer 2003 Enrollment Highlights
The summer 2003 enrollment census numbers set another high record with 6720 students (+165
students, +2.5%) and 1045.6 FTEs (+7 FTEs, + 1%). The part-time students comprise 97% of
summer population.
Notable Demographics

The largest summer market (49% of summer enrollment) - students continuing from the spring
semester - continues to grow more significantly (+ 4.0%) than new (+ 1%) or returning students
(+ 1%).

The number of students pursuing a degree or certificate increased by + 6% over last summer
mostly due to the increase in liberal arts (+ 16.5%) and DCC programs (+ 23%). Matriculated
enrollment is up 26% in the last two years while non-matriculated declined both years. In the
two year period Technical Education is the only program area that declined (-14.5%).

The number of students taking at least one SLN course increased 21% over last summer, from
645 to 781.

Minority students increased 8% while non-minority students increased 1% over last summer.
Female students represented 60% of the summer enrollment.

Growth in each of the last two years occurred in all age groups.

The entire increase in enrollment was from students who reside in Monroe County.

There are more students with all courses at DCC (+8%) while fewer are taking courses at both
campuses causing a 2% drop in DCC FTEs. The Brighton campus headcount is up 2% and
FTEs are up 1%. PSTC headcount increased nearly 30% over last summer while the FTEs are
up 7%. Law Enforcement registrations are not included in this report but will be included in
late summer reports.
