RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University (SUNY) invites applications for an assistant professor, tenure-track faculty position. This is a full-time tenure track faculty position for experienced educator in printmaking and related media, and a practicing artist with an active exhibition record. The successful candidate will run the print media area; structure, teach, and develop the print media curriculum; and contribute to the strength and energy of our growing department.

The successful candidate will:

Teach a range of printmaking courses at the undergraduate level, as well as occasional foundations course: the equivalent of 15 studio hours per week as determined by the Chair each fall and spring semester

Develop and maintain printmaking facilities, equipment and resources

-

Participate in curriculum development

-

Contribute to developing strong culture of printmaking research and practice in the department

Maintain substantial creative accomplishments in the applicant’s professional discipline

Exhibit in related exhibitions and participate in professional symposia

Advise students

-

Participate in committee work and other service to the department and the college

-

Perform all other related activities as required

A strong record of professional accomplishment, as demonstrated through portfolio, and an active exhibition/publication record are essential. Applicants should possess knowledge of a wide variety of processes ranging from traditional to experimental printmaking, and have experience with digital printmaking applications and non- toxic processes/materials. Experience running a professional print studio, working as a master printer, or in a collaborative studio is desirable. They will be expected to contribute to the core curriculum of the art program, with the ability to teach foundational courses in drawing, 2D design or in other areas of candidate’s expertise. An understanding of current art issues and studio practices is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

We require an MFA in photography or equivalent terminal degree as well as three to five years’ college level teaching experience.
