Farm dams
A farmer can make his own dam on his farm.
To make a dam he uses a bulldozer to
make a hollow for the water to collect
in.
The water for the dam can:
drain from the surrounding hills
be pumped from a nearby stream or river
be pumped from the underground water through a
borehole.
be filled with rain.
Lots of different animals can live
in and around a dam, such as
fresh water fish, frogs and water
birds.
The water in the dam can be used for
farm animals or for irrigating crops.
