European Computer Driving Licence Module 6 – Presentation Chapter 6.4 – Adding Objects Adding Objects Z Pictures, scanned photographs or cartoons can be added to your documents Z You can also put in graphs and charts Z PowerPoint has slide layouts designed to help you add graphics easily Z Slide 5 of the Tigers presentation is an example Z Display the slide on in Normal View and type in your text first Inserting a Clip Art image Z Z Double-click on the Clip Art placeholder Search for a picture (graphic) by typing a search word into the search box. Click Go Z Select a picture by clicking it. Click OK. The picture will appear on the slide Z To delete a picture, click it and press the Delete key Changing the size of a graphic Z Select the graphic. Black Z Click and hold down the mouse button handles will surround it Z Drag outwards to enlarge the graphic, Z Position the mouse over or drag inwards to make it smaller a corner handle. The Z Release the mouse pointer will change to a two-headed arrow Copying or moving an image within a presentations Z You may want the same Z Click the image and drag it into image on another slide, eg. position on the slide the Title slide Z Resize it if necessary Z You can copy or move the image without having to insert another Clip Art image Z Click to select the image. Select Edit then Copy (to copy the image), or Cut (if you want to move it) Z Go to the slide to receive the image. Select Edit then Paste Copying or moving an image between presentations Z You can also copy or move an image between open presentations: Z Start a new presentation, or open an existing one Z Switch back to the first presentation by clicking its filename on the Start bar Z Z Z Z Click the image. Select Edit then Copy or Cut Switch to the other presentation Go to the slide to receive the image Select Edit then Paste. Move and resize appropriately Inserting an image to the Master slide Z You can insert an image into the Z Master slide for non-title slides by opening the file containing the graphic then copying and pasting it into the slide. Z You can also import it directly by finding a picture you like from the Internet, or download some from the Payne-Gallway web site www.payne-gallway.co.uk/ecdl View the Master slide and select the non-title Master slide Select Insert then Picture then Z From File Z Z Z Locate the pictures you’ve downloaded and click to select one, then click the Insert button Move and resize if necessary and add a border by clicking the Line Color button Switch to Normal View to exit the slide master Adding a column chart Z A Title and Chart slide (slide 4) has already been created in the Tigers presentation Z Select the chart slide and double-click the Chart placeholder Z A small spreadsheet will appear Z Overtype the existing data with the new information Z Remove unwanted columns and rows in turn by clicking the column or row headers and pressing the Delete key Z Close the spreadsheet datasheet Z Use the corner handles to resize the chart if necessary Adding a chart Z The chart slide will look something like this: Sizing a chart Z To adjust the chart size, click it and drag a corner handle inwards to make it smaller and outwards to make it larger Editing a chart Z You can edit details if you make a mistake in one of the figures or headings in the chart Z Double-click the chart and the datasheet will appear again Z If the datasheet does not appear, right-click on the Chart Area and select Datasheet from the menu that appears Z The Chart Area is the dark blue area around the chart. If you are unsure of being in the right place, hover the mouse pointer over the area and the Tool Tip will tell you where you are Changing the background colour Z Double-click the chart so that the datasheet appears Z Right click in the middle of the chart. The Tool Tip will say Walls. Select Format Walls Z Click one of the colours, or check the None box to leave the background transparent. Click OK Changing the column colours Z The chart in edit mode (with the datasheet showing), right click on one of the column bars. Select Format Data Series Z In the Area section, select a new colour for the selected data series. Click OK Z Repeat this process for other column data series if necessary Adding a pie chart Z Z Z Z You can copy a chart slide, paste it into a new position in the presentation, and then change the chart to a pie chart and edit the data Go to the existing Title and Chart slide and select Edit then Copy Select Edit then Paste. A copy of the slide will appear just after the original Double-click the placeholder, edit the existing data in the datasheet. Remove any unwanted rows and columns Adding a pie chart Z Z To change the chart type, right click on the Chart Area (outside of the actual chart, but still within the boundary) Select Chart Type Z Z Z Click Pie. Click OK To add data labels, right click under the legend. Select Chart Options Select the Data Labels tab and make the required selections Adding a pie chart Z The new pie chart slide will look something like this: Chart types Z There are many other chart types available Z Right click the chart and select Chart Type Z Select a chart type and click Press and Hold to view Sample to see what it looks like Changing chart colours To change the background of any chart: Z Make user the datasheet is in view Z Right click close to the chart within the background area (the Plot Area) Z Select Format Plot Area Z Select a new colour Z Click OK Changing chart colours To change the colour of all of the bars in a data series Z Select the chart. Click a bar once Z Right-click it and select Format Data Series Z Select a new colour from the Patterns tab Z Click OK To change the colour of an individual bar: Z Click any bar once Z Then click the specific bar to select it Z Right click it and select Format Data Point Z Select a new colour from the Patterns tab Z Click OK
