Application Instructions
Dear Beloved:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Life Group Leader (LGL) at Regent University. This
application packet includes the LGL Selection Process Timeline, LGL Application Instructions, LGL Job
Description/Expectations and LGL Application. Please read through this packet, familiarize yourself with the
information and follow the instructions carefully.
LGLs have a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of Regent University residential students.
LGLs receive significant leadership training and experience in community development, encouragement,
relational dynamics, communication skills, spiritual formation, and other areas that will benefit them for a
lifetime. Additionally, LGLs are all compensated with either a housing stipend or meal vouchers each
semester.

Selection Process Timeline
Applications may be accessed online through our Campus Ministries homepage.
Email applications to Discipleship@regent.edu by Friday, February 16th, 2016.
Review of Applications
- Applicants will be notified via e-mail with any follow up information or questions.
Selection Announcements
Selected applicants will be notified by February 26th.
Partner selection and floor placement will be emailed out following Spring Break.

Life Group Leader Application Instructions
Applications are due February 16th at 11:59 pm and must be submitted via e-mail to discipleship@regent.edu. Please
note that late or incomplete applications may not be accepted.
A complete application includes:
1. The LGL Application Form:
❖ Spiritual Journey
All applicants are required to write out a personal spiritual journey. This spiritual journey should include
your life background before Christ, your encounter with Christ, and your life after Christ up to the present.
This spiritual journey should be 1-2 typed pages (1” margins), 12 font (Arial), single-spaced with correct
grammar and spelling.
❖ Short Answer Application Questions
All applicants are required to respond to the short answer questions provided in this application form. Your
answer should be as concise as possible while still thoroughly answering the question. Again, please use
correct grammar and spelling.
❖ Scaled Answer Application Questions
All applicants will respond to twelve scaled answer questions. Please use Ctrl+B to embolden whatever
answers best describes your personality.
❖ Spiritual Gift Assessment
All applicants are required to take the spiritual gifts test found here. Once you have completed the test, please
paste your percentages under the Spiritual Gifts Assessment portion of this application.
❖ Spiritual Recommendation
Each applicant must have his or her current Life Group Leader send a letter of recommendation via email to
discipleship@regent.edu with your name appearing in the subject line. If you did not attend your Life Group
you may ask another spiritual leader in your life to compose your letter of recommendation.
2. Résumé
a. Please be professional in format and content.
b. Include:
1. Summer Contact Information (home address, phone number, email address, and student ID)
2. Anticipated degree and graduation date
3. Work experience (chronological with most recent first; include dates of employment)
4. Ministry experience (include skills accrued from ministry, i.e. interpersonal communication,
speaking/teaching, discipleship, etc.)
6. Other (your opportunity to list other significant information that can strengthen your application
for the LGL position)

Job Description & Expectations
Job Description
A Life Group Leader at Regent University is:
A person committed to showing the loving shepherd heart of God to a Life Group by facilitating Real
Christian Community.
Real Christian Community is:
When two or more Christians meet in the name of Jesus to know and be known, to love and be loved, to
celebrate and be celebrated, to encourage and be encouraged.
First Follower:
A Life Group Leader is someone who is following God with his/her whole heart, first as a follower of Jesus,
then as a leader of others.
A Representation of Barnabas:
A Life Group Leader should epitomize a Barnabas style of ministry. This is one who is discerning, noble, and
affirming in his/her relationships with God and with others.
Kingdom Architect:
Each Life Group Leader will facilitate and cultivate the community of the Kingdom of God, always defining
his/her life by Jesus’ life and ministry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Total: 7-10 hours per week

To hold a Life Group every week based upon the weekly rotation.
o Week 1 & 3- Life Group Leader Teaching
o Week 2- Prayer and Share Night
o Week 4- Outreach Night
Provide relational ministry with assigned undergraduate Life Group Members (LGMs)
Participate in hall activities and meet with the Resident Advisor (RA) regularly to facilitate a spiritual
environment on each floor.
Submit Weekly Reports within 24 hours after Life Group
Submit Journal responses and Lesson Plans to your Captain by Friday at midnight
Attend on-going training:
o Monthly:
▪ Leadership Labs (entire team hears from either Discipleship Coordinator or guest speaker)
▪ DT Connects (entire team meets together for devotional and fun time)
▪ Captain Connects (meet with your entire Captain group)
▪ One-on-One meetings with your Life Group Captain
▪ Other events that CM encourages for development
Attend either University Chapel or UnChapel each week
Attend the entirety of Discipleship Training that takes place the weeks preceding the start of school.
Compensation
Life Group Leaders receive a 10% discount towards on-campus housing. Commuter Life Group Leaders
receive compensation through Ordinary vouchers. Note that all Life Group Leaders will be guaranteed oncampus housing in a one bedroom with their Life Group Partner.
