The course work for 3 credits consists of reading Homer’s The Iliad and The Odyssey and writing interpretive journal entries before the trip; eight two-hour classes before the trip to discuss the readings and lectures; on-location journal writing checked by the professor during the trip; one formal research paper (5-6 pages, typewritten doublespaced, documented in MLA Style) due after the trip. Three additional meetings after the trip to finalize the papers and hear oral presentations based on them. Travel Course Assessment essay (2-3 pages long, typed and double- spaced) due after all course requirements are met.
