REPORTS
A. Speaker’s Report
Speaker Lawson…
 Rock the Vote – Monday, January 28, Student Government and Phi Theta Kappa hosted a
Presidential forum on all the candidates entering the New York State Primary which will take
place on February 5, 2008. They have also organized a mock primary which will take place
on campus January 30 & 31. There have been record turnouts at the polls in the early
Presidential contest this year, especially from younger voters. It is very important that Student
Government and Phi Theta Kappa do whatever they can to encourage MCC students to
participate in the selection process of their Presidential leaders.


Campus Nightlife – Student Government needs to do more to increase nightlife on Campus;
he suggested working with Res. Life to organize fun and creative events that would encourage
students to stay on Campus. Senator Wingate will be looking into ways to promote nightlife at

 Events Committee – working on Black History Month; he would like to team up the Black
Student Union for this project. Fabrice Broyld has some good ideas so he will be taking over.

 Rock the Vote – the mock debate was a large success; many thanks to Matt Lawson, Andy
Wagoner, Phi Theta Kappa and the faculty who were involved. On Wednesday and Thursday
he will be attending/staffing Activity Day and the Mock Primary Vote on behalf of SGA.
