Financial Information
Once accepted into the program, the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) of Columbia
University requires all Visiting Scholars and Research Scholars to provide documentation of their
ability to support themselves financially while in the U.S. Current regulations call for at least $2,000
per month per scholar, plus an additional $800 per month for an accompanying spouse and $400 per
month for an accompanying child.

Program Fees
Visiting Scholars and Research Fellows are charged a fee of $6,000 per academic year to participate
in the Visiting Scholar and Research Fellow Program at Columbia Law School. As of July 1, 2002
ISSO charges $250.00 for the processing of visa eligibility forms (the DC-2019). These fees are
mandatory and will not be waived by the ISSO.
