Candidate Statement - Jessica Barone, Chemistry/Geosciences Department I would like to be considered to serve as the next Representative to the MCC Association Board of Directors. I am an assistant professor of geology and since beginning at MCC in 2001, I have had the opportunity to participate in multiple committees throughout campus including professional development, hiring, and assessment committees, which has allowed me to interact with and gain perspectives from faculty in many disciplines. In addition to my role as an assistant professor, I have been an adviser to the student club, the Geosciences Association of MCC, for the past four years. It has been through this second role that I have most directly interacted with the MCC Association and have learned of its many functions which benefit the students as well as the entire college community. The MCC Association has supported the many activities of the Geosciences Association including Earth Day celebrations, E-recycling fundraisers and educational field trips to several national parks. These activities, as well as my experiences in the classroom, have led me to develop a multifaceted relationship with students at MCC. I hope that this relationship as well as my rapport with colleagues will help me bring a well-informed and enthusiastic addition to the position of Representative to the MCC Association Board of Directors.
