ARGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER REQUIREMENTS LENGTH: Maximum is 2000 words, double spaced. Minimum length is 1500words. SUBJECT: Select a topic from the broad category of gender. Yes it must be about gender paper and develop an argument about your perspective on gender PURPOSE: Developing and supporting an analytical argument, researching and using persuasive authority, and orally presenting your position. This is a critical/analytical argument paper that will include expository subject matter. Be special in your definition of terms and explain your abstract concepts fully. You must be able to apply your findings to an issue and draw a conclusion that calls for a change in policy, recommends a strategy for solving the problem, or speculates about the implications for the future based or your evidence. AUDIENCE: Academic colleagues. RESEARCH: You must use and two secondary sources. You should choose appropriate secondary sources. General sources such as encyclopedias may be consulted but not used or cited. All internet sites must be either from academic institutions or other authoritative and verifiable sources. You should not use Google to find sources. Wikipedia is not an appropriate source. Do not use or cite it. Do not use other student’s websites or other general postings. CITATIONS: You must use MLA citation form. This requires parenthetical citations in the text and complete citations on the works cited page. APPROACH: This is an academic, argumentative research paper. You must develop a research issue research (question). You must offer some solution or answer to this issue.
