From: Monroe Community College Biology Department To: All LA 18 Students Date: October 23, 2003 Re: Upcoming changes in the LA 18 Advisement Sequence The Biology Department at Monroe Community College is planning to implement several changes in the Liberal Arts: Science A.S. Degree (LA 18). These changes are necessary to provide students with a more comparable program of study to that found in most other biology programs. If you are currently a student following the LA 18 advisement sequence, you may continue to do so, but please be aware that implementation of the proposed changes will result in the deactivation of BIO 126: Introduction to the Biology of Cells, BIO 160: General Botany, BIO 165: General Zoology after academic year 2004-2005. Alternatively, you may decide to begin the new LA 18 advisement sequence in Fall 2004. The table below provides a comparison of the current LA 18 biology advisement sequence with the new sequence that will be in place beginning Fall Semester, 2004. Please note that the Humanities, Social Science, Health/Physical Education, Mathematics, and Chemistry requirements for this advisement sequence will not be changed, and therefore are not listed below.
