hours (FTIC). Students required to take UNIV 1231 may also choose

NOTES:
1. By state law the candidate must have credit for six (6) semester
hours of American History. Texas History may substitute for three
(3) semester hours.
2. By state law the candidate must have credit for six (6) semester
hours of federal and state constitutions. ROTC credit at a senior
institution may be substituted.
3. Majors: Majors are defined as a minimum of thirty (30) semester
hours. One-half (1/2) of these hours must be advanced. A Minimum
of 36 advanced hours is required for any baccalaureate degree.
4. Minors: Most minors at Texas Woman’s University include a
minimum of eighteen (18) hours. A minor includes a minimum of 6
credit hours at the advanced level. Students should consider the
state excess hours rule when considering earning a minor.
5. At least one-half (1/2) of the upper level courses in the major and at
least one-half of the upper level courses in the minor must be
completed at TWU.
6. A Minimum of 25% of the credit hours must be taken at TWU.
Correspondence and credit-by-examination courses do not satisfy
residence requirements for graduation.
7. A student who holds a valid bachelor’s degree from another
accredited college or university and who wishes to earn a second
bachelor’s degree at TWU must complete the following legal
requirements: Six (6) semester hours of American History, six (6)
semester hours of national and state governments, and thirty-six
(36) semester hours of advanced studies, and meet departmental and
residential requirements.
8. Students may transfer no more than 90 semester hours from junior
or community colleges. There is no limit for transfer credit from
senior institutions.

receive and review their information; and correct any incorrect
information.
Disclosure of your social security or student ID number is
required to access your transcripts and contact information at Texas
Woman's University. Your social security or student ID number will be
used as a unique number to identify you. Any further disclosure of your
social security number will be governed by the Public Information Act
(Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code).
