Denton, TX-Texas Woman’s University is proud to announce its Ninth Annual Joyce Elaine Grant Juried
Photography Exhibition. Established in 2001, the annual Joyce Elaine Grant Photography Exhibition
provides a national venue for the exhibition of artistic expression as seen through the eyes of the camera.
Photographers from throughout the United States were invited to submit entries for the exhibition. The
exhibition will be on view to the public at the Texas Woman’s University Fine Arts Gallery January 26 to
February 17, 2010. The work of Keliy Anderson-Staley, last year’s exhibition winner of a solo show at TWU
Fine Arts Gallery, will also be on view in the East gallery opposite the Joyce Elaine Grant Exhibition.
The exhibition coordinator is pleased to announce Corey Keller as this year’s JEG Exhibition juror. Corey
Keller is Associate Curator of Photography at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art where she has been
on the curatorial staff since 2003. She recently organized the exhibition (and accompanying catalogue)
“Brought to Light: Photography and the Invisible, 1840-1900” as well as a retrospective survey of the career
of Henry Wessel. Major upcoming projects include a permanent collection exhibition and catalogue in
celebration of SFMOMA’s 75th anniversary (2010) and monographic exhibitions and catalogues on
Francesca Woodman (2011) and J.B. Greene (2013). She is a PhD candidate at Stanford University, where
she also earned her master’s degree in art history. Prior to attending Stanford, Keller worked at The Museum
of Modern Art, New York, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
The Ninth Annual Joyce Elaine Grant Photography Exhibition award winners are: Rebecca Sittler Schrock:
Solo Show; Pavlina Eccless: $500 cash award; Kathryn Osgood: Coupralux fine art digital printing materials
award and Timothy Hyde: the Cannon printer award from Red River Paper.
The exhibition and endowment was established by a small group of TWU graduate students and is named in
memory of the mother of Professor Susan kae Grant. Exhibition proceeds will help fund the Joyce Elaine
Grant Photography Exhibition Endowment, which will fund scholarships for future graduate students in the
Department of Visual Arts. Past juror’s include Trudy Wilner Stack, former Curator of Exhibitions and
collections at the Center for Creative Photography, Deborah Willis, MacArthur Fellow, author, curator, and
NYU faculty member, Anne Wilkes Tucker, Curator of Photography at The Museum of Fine Arts Houston,
Alison Nordstrom, Curator of photographs at the George Eastman House and Blake Fitch, Executive
Director of the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, Massachusetts.
The Joyce Elaine Grant Photography Exhibition and the work of Keliy Anderson-Staley can be viewed
January 26 to February 17, 2010 at Texas Woman’s University’s Fine Arts Galleries at the corner of Texas
St. and Oakland in Denton, Texas. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm, and
on weekends by appointment. An opening reception will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from 4:00 to
