JULIA HILL ATWELL AND MARY MARSHALL MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT FUND STUDENT TRAVEL EXPENSE ENDOWMENT DUE: MARCH 15, 2014 This fund provides travel expenses for female students majoring in Fine Art at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level. Awards can be used for conferences, workshops, research projects, and similar events that relate to one’s course of study. Higher priority is given when there is a greater level of professional involvement in the event, and the event is national in scope. Recipients must— --Have a GPA of 3.0 or above. --Be a woman. --Be a currently enrolled student majoring in Art with status at the level of Junior, Senior, or Graduate (must also be enrolled at the time of the intended travel) --Send in a completed application (saved as a PDF) to Susan Grant: sgrant1@twu.edu by: Saturday, March 15th, 2014. Additional Information— -Decisions will be made and announced within two weeks of the deadline. -The committee that determines awards is made up of the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts along with three other faculty members of the department. -Students will be funded for no more than one trip each year. -Academic probation or suspension and/or disciplinary probation or suspension may result in the rescinding of an awarded scholarship. -Applications and completion of travel must take place within the same fiscal year (Sept 1 through August 31). -Student travel must be demonstrated to be beneficial to the university. Students must be enrolled in the University at the time of the application and the time of the trip. -Reimbursements will be made on the basis of the submission of receipts and a copy of the award letter signed by the Chair of the Fund Committee. -The committee has established a minimum of $100, maximum of $300 to be applied toward travel. -Maximum amount and number of awards given will depend on fund available, number of applicants, and priorities as listed below. Evaluation Criteria (lower numbers mean a higher chance of receiving funding) 1. A slide or panel presentation at national conference, regional conference, or professional meeting. 2. Presentation of a workshop at a national conference, regional conference, or professional meeting. 3. Participation in an internship program of study at a workshop or a museum outside the DFW metroplex. 4. Attendance at national and regional conferences and professional meetings where merit has been demonstrated. 5. Attendance at a workshop program of study where merit has been demonstrated 6. Attendance at a residency program where merit has been demonstrated. 7. Initiating and carrying out a research project of one’s own design, relevant to one’s field of study.
